Over the weekend, I attended WordCamp Dublin. I experienced what a great conference with a dedicated team behind it looks like, and I held two talks about preventing burnout.

After all the turmoil in 2018, we didn’t really feel like going out and participating in community events for a while. However, “community” has been one of our core values from the start, and now that another year is coming to an end, it’s time for us to join the conference circuit again.

Having written a few weeknotes now, I’m starting to get the hang of them. I’m happy to see myself getting into a regular writing rhythm, even if it’s just a few words here and there. It’s something I’ll be able to build upon.

We’re in an interesting phase here at freistil IT. On one hand, we’re still up-to-our-necks busy with infrastructure work we should have done many months ago. On the other hand, we’ve started to talk about our new strategic direction.

This was a quiet week for the freistil team, with lots of work happening behind the scenes. While Markus started building new servers and benchmarking different storage setups for our future database clusters, I spent most of my time working on the freistilbox Dashboard.

Inspired by Steve Parks’s recent blog post over at Convivio, I’ve decided to pick up publishing weeknotes again. I’ve been struggling a lot with getting into a writing habit recently, and weeknotes seem like a good way to ease myself back into writing regularly. Thanks, Steve!
